Open Eye Gallery: Craig Easton (Is Anybody Listening?)

Going to a gallery and seeing photography in print is always a wonderful experience. Photography can be appreciated in many different formats but being able to see the choices that go into a print allow an even deeper understanding into the process behind the creation. Craig Easton shoots all his work on large format film cameras, this means that he is able to print his images in a larger scale and still keep them at a high quality. At the open eye gallery there were two different projects to see, the main being “Is Anybody Listening” but also upstairs featured a previous project “Thatcher’s Children”. Although I don’t personally practice documentary photography I still find it extremely fascinating, there is a grreat apprectiation for the time commitment and the research that goes into such a project. This wasn’t my first visit to Open Eye Gallery and I’d recommend to anyone to always try and see what they have on, it’s so important to support spaces that feature different photographers work and the staff have always been insightful if you have any questions around the work. Work such as Craig Eastons is so important to portray the lives of people that are often forgotten and doing it through the means of photography allows it to be accessible for a range of different people.
